So this bill that passed that moves on to Senate in July🧐. Just in RI alone this bill cuts insurance to over 360,000 people, kids, underpaid workers (including many health care workers, better hope your BEYOND rich if you get sick. Eighty two percent of low income families gave children, 62% are nursing home patients, 40% are children and 20% also receive Medicare(meaning over the age of 65).

You better put your toddlers on your deed or in a trust NOW if you own, even that may not protect you. You best gift any extra money you have NOW. We all better start thinking real hard outside of the box!

   Imagine your loved one gets sick and needs you Long Term Care, they’ll eat up every cent to pay the average cost is $12k per month in a shared room!! So all their life savings will vanish and very quickly. Then what, usually a person would then apply for Medicaid benefits once all their savings are quickly depleted. These are now our parents/grandparents who fought in wars, worked 80 hours a week, lived through more than one depression in this country. Less funding to the state means lower wages/staffing.

Most people do not realize unless you work in it; even then most health care workers aren’t aware of the finance piece.

 Right now an eligible person can go on, “Medicaid pending” from date of submission. This means you go to the hospital with a severe heart attack, a life altering stroke or car/traumatic accident; you get down graded from a skilled level of care, but there’s sadly no way to go home. You cannot afford

$6-13k a year so your family or representative fills out some forms for

Medicaid, then once submitted it will retro pay facility from date of submission. Now there’s a 3 month NO payment waiting period. Three months is an insane amount of money when you factor in that SEVENTY percent of our nursing home patients in the UNITED STATES are on Medicaid. So for 3 months facilities will not see a dime and will not revieve retro pay. Remember facilities CAN decline to keep your loved ones, (soon they’ll have no choice) and they will be issued a 30 day notice to evict. Many states also allow patients next of kin to be responsible. This means a shark type lawyer may just come after your assets and I’m sure these lawyers will start piling out of the wood works for this soon to be high pay day. No one thinks of what they are signing as someone’s representative upon admissions to the hospital or a facility when in distress, nor do many really understand. In most cases it’s emergent, and not prepared For the fact they may need to stay long term. No one can predict anything!!

Mind you ALL of this is not the future, this is NOW so if you already have a loved one in a LTC facility start thinking or start fighting back, protest, vote democratic in the 2026 elections, or write to any and every representative you can whether you think it helps or not! They all care about their approval ratings and 2026 will come fast!

  Through this bill Medicaid which has level of care criteria being reviewed at every 6 months per this bill where it was annually. Where will those state workers will come from? Hey maybe the unfortunately uneducated person or the person living in chronic pain but being forced to work until their 65 now will get that job to determine you or your families fate, hey someone has to do it.

  ANYONEEEEE in healthcare is well aware of the shortages and how it’s become worse over the years. So what do you do when your loved one has advanced dementia and with all your efforts you just can’t care for them safely? You have to send them to a LTC facility. Well you best be ready to go in and help them because there WILL not be enough staff to ensure your family member gets fed; gets meds on time, get changed so they don’t end up with a UTI that swiftly turns into sepsis!!

  Expect to be there around the clock to ensure they don’t end up with stage 4 pressure ulcers that you literally can put your fist in!! This happens already due to disease process and altered mental status, now just throw in even more of a shortage!! Do not complain to staff or admin citing the Nursing Home Bill of rights. Once this all goes through that bill will be damn near impossible if possible AT all to abuse by they’ll all be barely keeping heads above water. If You complain, the facility gets a tag, pay a heavy fines (this will sadly repeat) and they will be forced to close! Now what, you have little time to find alternate placement (good luck with that) or clean out the back room!

        What about the health care workers that underpaid or minimally (just cant afford our current costs) that cook their food; that wash their clothes and cleans their rooms. Many make such minimal wages that they are receiving some state benefits just to survive!! You best be there to bring their food (make sure to follow their diet, puree it or chop it so they don’t choke or aspirate into their lungs).

You best bring a mop and bucket and supplies to ensure hospital/facility acquired infections are controlled to the best of your ability. You best learn how to change briefs or toilet them, clean them thoroughly all while they may be a hoyer lift, they may be combative with you, yelling, spitting, hitting or just not able to participate due to their unfortunate disease process. You will do all this and not be able to ask for help or blame workers because IT WONT WORK, they won’t have the means.

You better think how you’ll do this and juggle work and family never mind the life outside of that you can say goodbye to. Don’t forget many baby boomers children are also aging or midst the busiest times of their lives caring for their own families barely managing.

  Next, 200 Planned Parenthood centers will close when this goes to voter in July…200!!!!! So what happens to the babies born to teens or low income families? Go ahead say they should have been safer, say maybe they shouldn’t have been ASSAULTED! Who feeds those babies, clothes them, cares for them?? Does the bill protect single moms who can’t work or are 20 years old with none or too little of an education to get a job paying enough to survive?!

    The legislation passed by the House would raise the work requirement to age 65 sixty five!!!!! It extends it to parents without children younger than age 7, so if you have an 8,9 and 14 year old say and you’re a single parent what do you do?!

The bill also limits the ability to waive work requirements in areas with unemployment rates significantly above the national average.

So hey you have 3 children over age of 7 (or 2 kids 5 kids whatever), spouse passed away or just is a dead beat parent who you’ll never see a dime from, you’ll lose these benefits. Then you won’t be able to get a job because of where you live but good luck trying to move because you have children, no income and no insurance 💔.

    So what’s that outcome, children placed in the system that states will pay for anyway? I think that’s way more costly in even the short term never mind horrifically sad and life altering for so many children💔.

   If you’re on Medicaid legitimately and are transgender you’re just completely cut out!! So yes government can now dictate how you live your life all around but keep trying to say their Christian! Christians are to be kind to thy neighbor, accepting and loving, that’s what I was taught. Taught Christians care for each other, accept one another, serve one another. Christians are to be kind, generous and forgiving to ALL.

I am assuming that the separation of church and state’s been tossed!!? Does anyone actually feel that ANY of the above is the “Christian way?” This is what this admin stating they are basing most of their ideas/bills on!

WAKE up this is NOT a joke and never has been. This is not a red hat that says “MAGA” this us all of our lives and our rights being stolen right out from under us.
